your ultimate guide to romanticizing fall

For me, it’s always a toss-up between fall and summer when it comes to my favourite season. I love the warmth and energy of summer, but there’s something about fall—the crisp air, changing colours, and cozy vibes—that really speaks to me. Winter, though, is definitely at the bottom of the list. Knowing that winter’s around the corner (and with it, the inevitable SADs), this year I’m making a conscious effort to fully romanticize and enjoy fall.
Ways I’m going to romanticize fall:🍁🍂🎃🧡🍎🥧☕🔥🍂🌰🍁🍃🍄🌻
Food:
Make my favourite dutch oven roast on Sundays. Here’s how I do it
Cook hearty soups and stews (like butternut squash or chicken and veggies) that fill the house with warm, cozy smells.
Roast apples with cinnamon and stevia, and serve them over Greek yogurt for a protein-packed sweet fall snack.
Roast my favourite squash and sprinkle with flaked sea salt.
Down Time:
Turn on the fireplace every morning and evening.
Light beeswax candles to add some seasonal warmth to the condo without the toxic fragrance.
Burn these Teakwood incense from Japan, I’m obsessed.
Read more. I usually feel guilty taking downtime during the day, even on weekends, but as the weather shifts, I want to be more intentional about sitting with a book outside my usual morning and bedtime reading hours.
On my fall reading list: this book!
Use the hot tub and sauna in our building more often. I got out of the habit last year, but I always feel so relaxed afterwards—especially if I pair it with a CBD gummy (or two).
Nature:
Bundle up and go on a few nature walks where the fall colours are at their peak.
Take a hot cup of matcha or coffee on a scenic walk.
Go for a fall hike before the snow covers the mountain tops.
TV/Movies:
Rewatch Gilmore Girls (again)—the ultimate cozy fall show.
Watch classic fall-themed movies like When Harry Met Sally, You've Got Mail, and Practical Magic. (Confession: I’ve never seen When Harry Met Sally, You’ve Got Mail, Little Women, or Autumn in New York—my goal is to check these off this fall/winter!)
Looking forward to Nobody Wants This (Sept. 26 on Netflix) and Bad Sisters Season 2 (Nov. 13 on Apple TV).
Football:
I’ve grown to love Sunday football since meeting Ryan. Football wasn’t a big thing growing up in my house (it was always hockey), but since Ryan is American, it’s like a religion for them! Now, after almost nine years together, I cheer for the Seahawks (Ryan’s team, which feels like mine too now) and, of course, the Chiefs—aka Taylor’s team!
Movement:
Still start my mornings with a brisk walk outside (or hit the treadmill if it's pouring rain).
